The amazing hair-curling hack you need to try

Move over Dyson, it seems there’s a new air curler in town and it costs just a few bucks.

A hair hack that involves using just a water bottle and a hair dryer to get incredible curls is taking the internet by storm and it’s easy to see why.

The nifty technique involves cutting the top off a plastic bottle then creating a slit for your hair dryer to blow in hot air and voilà!

While the bargain trick may sound too good to be true, women around the world have been uploading their attempts on Instagram —and the results are pretty impressive.

Using the hashtag #blowthebottlechallenge, scores of videos show skeptical participants put their straight locks into the bottle, only for them to emerge with a gorgeous curl.

One woman even used an empty Pringles carton for a similar effect.

Some though have also experienced epic fails, from no visible difference to a literal hot mess.

With Dyson’s ‘Airwrap’ setting those with curly-haired dreams back a whopping $699, it’s understandable that many have given this budget experiment a try.

The impressive new styler uses a ‘safe’ temperature’ to curl the hair, something the bottle technique may not be able to guarantee.

But according to one Instagram user, US stylist Renèe Marie, there are some helpful tips and tricks you can use to give your curl the best shot.

“Make sure it’s a longer bottle, that is a THICK plastic,” she said, adding that you should “let hair cool in the bottle before taking it out”.

She also suggested you hold the hair dryer at the right angle for your locks to ‘spin’ and warned users to be careful as the bottle will get hot.

Are you brave enough to give this new hack a try?
