Aldi's Version of a Popular Trader Joe's Item Has Shoppers Running to the Freezer Section
We all remember last year's wild kimbap craze that had customers ransacking Trader Joe’s on more than one occasion. How could anyone forget the mass of customers rushing to the frozen food section to load their carts with as many boxes of the popular Korean dish as possible? As soon as the dust settled, it seemed as though the fanaticism for the tasty regional meal had finally cooled off, but that all might have changed now that Aldi has officially entered the kimbap game.
Checking off your grocery list while at Aldi already has its own set of obstacles to overcome. Everywhere you look there’s a deal staring you right back in the face that was never on your list in the first place. With sushi being one of the most popular foods on social media, it only makes sense that these delicious kimbap rolls would be so popular. For those not in the know, kimbap is made with cooked rice and other ingredients such as meat and vegetables, and then rolled perfectly in a sheet of seaweed. Kimbap is traditionally eaten for lunch with kimchi, however, it can also be consumed as a midday snack or a fun appetizer at dinner.
Aldi’s Kimbap offering comes in two flavors: Spicy Salmon and BBQ Beef Bulgogi. Customers can find each one priced conveniently at just $3.99, with a jumbo hand roll inside that is cut conveniently into eight pieces. To prepare for consumption, all you need to do is open one end of the package and then place it in the microwave for 5 minutes. Once cooled off, dig in and enjoy.
It’s only a matter of time before news of Aldi’s Kimbap arrival spreads like wildfire. And if you’ve ever witnessed the chaos that can develop in the Aldi Finds section, you can imagine how fast this Korean dish will sell out. Make sure to snag a couple on your way out, as both flavors are likely to be a huge hit so long as there’s no allergies to worry about.
