Johnny Depp has accused his ex-wife Amber Heard of ‘severing his finger’ with a broken vodka bottle during an argument in Australia early in the couple’s marriage.

The allegation comes as part of a $72million (AUD) defamation lawsuit Depp filed against Heard after she previously alleged he was physically abusive towards her.

But now the Pirates of the Caribbean star has hit back with claims of his own, in court documents which detail the extent of his alleged injuries.

“(Heard) repeatedly and frequently threw objects into my body and head,” Depp declared in the documents, before listing ‘heavy bottles, soda cans, burning candles, television remote controls, and paint thinner cans’.

According to the documents, obtained by People, Depp claims his ex-wife threw a bottle at him which exploded after Heard was asked to to sign a post-nuptial agreement.

'She went berserk and began throwing bottles at me,” Depp claimed.

“The first bottle sailed past my head and missed, but then she threw a large glass vodka bottle.”

“I had to have three surgeries to reconstruct my finger and contracted MRSA three times. I feared that I would lose my finger, my arm and my life.”

The night of the alleged violence is said to have occurred while the couple were in Australia in March 2015, just one month after they wed.

But how Depp’s finger became severed remains in contention with both parties recording different versions of events.

Heard previously claimed in court her ex sustained the injury while 'drunk and high on ecstasy’ and under the belief she was having an affair with actor Billy Bob Thornton.

She also said her then-husband only had the wound treated on return to the US in what was described as an ‘on-set injury’.

However, this was refuted by Depp who claimed the treatment was done in order to ‘conceal (how Heard’s) domestic violence against me caused me grievous bodily injury’.

The accusations surrounding Depp’s bloody injury is just the latest instalment of figurative blows traded between the former couple.

Just last month, Heard heightened the severity of the allegations by claiming Depp threatened to kill her during booze and drug-filled rages on multiple occasions.
