This $75 Million Beachfront Estate Sprawls Over 12 Acres Along California’s Coast
Not only is the coastal city of Carpinteria, California, home to what’s often referred to as “the world’s safest beach,” but it’s also known to be lined with beachfront homes owned by Hollywood’s A-list. In 2022, Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi paid $70 million for a sprawling pad on the coastal community’s Padaro Lane, which is also home to a lavish estate owned by Horizon star Kevin Costner. A new listing on the exclusive street is now up for grabs at $75 million, and some might say it’s worth every penny—all 7.5 billion of them!
The bluff-front estate is spread out over three separate parcels: 2779/77/73 Padaro Lane, totaling 12.07 acres of land. Five plush bedrooms and a whopping 11 bathrooms punctuate its nearly 11,000 square feet of living space, next to gorgeous views of Loon Point Beach and over the Pacific Ocean to the Channel Islands. The property’s lush vegetation seamlessly blends in with the rugged coastal landscape, with several unique plants growing on-site, from Pride of Madeira to ‘Eureka’ roses, that give its gardens distinction.

Built in 2018, the home is part of the Summerland neighborhood, known for its antique shops and beachy bed and breakfast accommodations. The sprawling mansion features a Mediterranean-style façade with red roof tiles, stucco walls, and complimentary arched windows. The interiors are modern and prioritize an indoor-outdoor lifestyle. Throughout are soaring ceilings, oftentimes vaulted or showcasing coffered detailing. The living room and library reflect those details best.
One of the home’s two fireplaces is featured in the library, next to gorgeous oak wood book shelf displays. The other is featured on the outdoor patio. Although it is a bit unusual for a home of this caliber not to have at least one other fireplace, such as in the primary bedroom, the light-filled sleeping space makes up for it in other ways.
A massive arched window in the primary suite stands opposite folding doors that let out to a private patio. Ocean views and lush landscaping are visible from multiple points in the room, complete with a sitting area for lounging (or napping). There’s a lavish walk-in closet and an ocean-view en-suite bathroom, with the final highlight being a tiered pathway off the patio that leads up and over the grounds. Morning stroll, anyone?
The home, fortified by a high-tech security system, begins to feel every bit of an oasis as you venture to the pool, which is accessed via a walkway lined with blooming florals and Italian cypress trees. The vegetation acts as a natural buffer for privacy. Additionally, generous terraces provide outstanding views of Carpinteria’s mountainous landscape and meandering coastline.
