Cardi B: Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Concept Flying Tourbillon Tamara Ralph
Rapper, singer, and actress Cardi B wasn’t waiting for gifts on her birthday; she went straight to the AP House in New York to buy herself an Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Concept Flying Tourbillon Tamara Ralph limited edition. Created by Audemars Piguet in collaboration with Australian designer Tamara Ralph, this Royal Oak model has been given an Haute Couture touch with an 18-karat frosted pink gold case housing a multi-leveled dial in different tones of brown, bronze, and gold. The watch is powered by a flying tourbillon adorned with diamonds to show that girls love high-end mechanics too! At $203,800, this was an excellent self-gift. Happy Birthday Cardi B!
Harold Perrineau: Rolex Oyster Perpetual GMT-Master II “Pepsi”
Actor Harold Perrineau was in Los Angeles this week for the SAG-AFTRA Foundation Conversations. Taking the stage, he could be seen sporting a Rolex Oyster Perpetual GMT-Master II with the highly sought-after red and blue bi-directional Cerachrom bezel that gives this watch its “Pepsi” nickname. The distinctive two-tone bezel has been a signature element since the original GMT-Master was introduced in 1954. This timepiece is extremely intuitive to use as the 24-hour hand displays the home reference time and the hours and minutes indicate the local time. The hour hand can be adjusted forwards or backward independently of the minutes and seconds, allowing travelers to change time zone without losing precision. A new model in white gold will cost you in the region of $46,000, whereas a vintage model is around $30,000.
Colman Domingo: Cartier Panthère
Actor and producer Colman Domingo attended the LACMA Art+Film Gala this week looking dashing in a Gucci suit that he had elegantly paired with a Cartier Panthère. Housed in a square case shape with rounded corners, the Cartier Panthère is one of the French house’s iconic models. First created in the 1980s, it gets its name from its ultra-flexible bracelet that was inspired by the fluid movement of a panther. Other Cartier touches include a silvered dial with black Roman numerals, blued sword-shaped hands, and a crown set with a synthetic blue spinel. The Panthère models are mostly powered by quartz movements and this model has a price tag of $5,700.
Andrew Garfield: Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso
Another attendee at the LACMA Art+Film Gala this week was Academy Award-nominated actor, Andrew Garfield, who was wearing a Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Tribute Monoface Small Seconds. Housed in an ultra-thin 18-karat pink gold case, the watch is fitted with a deep burgundy colored dial and matching leather strap. Garfield couldn’t have found a better color match for his burgundy Gucci suit! This Reverso Tribute also stands out as it has been designed with the aesthetic codes of the very first Reversos from 1931, bringing an additional touch of class to this iconic model, which comes with a price tag of around $25,500.
Ryan Reynolds: Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch Professional
Well-known for his love of Omega, Ryan Reynolds was at a special screening of Deadpool & Wolverine this week with Hugh Jackman wearing his trusted Omega Speedmaster. He is frequently photographed wearing his Moonwatch Professional model. The timepiece is housed in a 42mm Moonshine gold case – Omega’s proprietary 18-karat yellow gold alloy – and is paired here with a green dial, green ceramic bezel, and gold accents. It is powered by Omega’s hand-wound Co-Axial Master Chronometer that has been certified by METAS and has a power reserve of 50 hours. This model will set you back $36,500 with a full gold bracelet, but it is also available on rubber for a lot less.
Jason Kelce: Rolex Oyster Perpetual GMT-Master II
Yellow gold is also the metal of choice for Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce who announced his retirement this week wearing his Rolex Oyster Perpetual GMT Master II. This timepiece is reportedly very special to him as he is said to have ordered it after the Eagles’ Super Bowl victory in 2018. After a career spanning 13 seasons, analysts are predicting that he will be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2029 when he becomes eligible, so we could see another special commission Rolex then too!
John Mulaney: Chopard L.U.C Heritage Grand Cru
NBC’s Saturday Night Live is a great watch-spotting opportunity. Last weekend’s edition saw John Mulaney hosting the show in a Chopard L.U.C. Heritage Grand Cru with an 18-karat ethical white gold case set with 2.90 carats of baguette diamonds. This model comes in a distinctive tonneau-shaped case measuring 38.8 x 38.5 mm. The shape takes its inspiration from the pocket watches designed by Louis-Ulysse Chopard, the founder of the company. At the heart of the watch is Chopard’s L.U.C. self-winding movement that indicates the hours, minutes, small seconds and date. You can expect to pay around $58,000 for this model.
