6 luxe ways to check out Los Cabos

If you’ve ever seen pictures of Jennifer Aniston living her best life in a tiny bikini and sipping on frosty margaritas by the pool, there’s every chance she’s soaking up the sun in Los Cabos.

Notorious for returning to the luxe getaway year after year – Jen even rang in the New Year there surrounded by her loved ones – she’s just one of the hordes of stars who can’t get enough of the dream Mexican destination that boasts 350 days of sunshine (no, that’s not a typo) a year.

Made up two separate towns Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo, which are 33 kilometres apart and connected by a strip of over-the-top hotels, this idyllic spot is all about the luxe things in life. From mind-blowingly delicious food to outrageously decadent hotels, this sun-drenched hotspot is all about treating yourself.

But it’s not all about sipping cocktails by the perfectly manicured pools. Here are six of the best luxe ways to check out Los Cabos.

Take in the famed Arch

It’s the most iconic tourist sites in Los Cabos, so splurge on a private water taxi to take you out to the Arch of Los Cabos, or as the locals call it, El Arco.

Bright blue skies, teeming tropical fish and if you’re lucky a sunbaking sea lion will all be on show, and for those keen to spend some time in the water, get your driver to drop you off at Lovers Beach for a dip.

Check out the outrageous hotels

Think you’ve seen a 5-star hotel? Think again. Home to some of the biggest, most spectacular and ultra-glamorous stays around, there’s something for every traveller when it comes to accommodation in Los Cabos.

Explore in the comfort of a private jeep tour like we did with Hightide and keep an eye out for real life road runners as you cruise along dirt roads with crashing waves on the horizon. Ask your guide nicely and they might stop at a hidden local eatery for the best fish tacos you’ve ever eaten in your life.

Let loose with the famous nightlife

Nothing screams holiday like cocktails by sunset, and you’ll be spoilt for choice in Los Cabos.

Manta at the Cape offers up some of the best views in town, but for those who want to really let their hair down, skip the luxe for just one night and let loose at the infamous Cabo San Lucas bars.

Iconic nightclub El Squid Roe is three-levels of poles, cages and double decker buses and be warned – you will be forced to have fun if you step through its neon flashing doors.

Brunch at an organic farm

It’s the lush desert oasis Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine chose as his wedding venue when he tied to knot to Victoria’s Secret model Behati Prinsloo, and luckily for us non-celebs, Flora Farm is open to everyone and all about celebrating fresh produce.

From wandering the cactus-laden farms to cooking classes, those keen to treat their tastebuds should book for their famed Sunday brunch. Trust us, the breakfast pizza from the wood oven is life-changing.

Spectacular snorkeling

You’ll feel like you’re in a real-life aquarium thanks to incredible snorkeling in Los Cabos.

Escape the crowds and jet skis at Medano Beach and drive 15 minutes out of town to local favourite Chileno Beach, or if you really want to swim uninterrupted, head to Cabo Pulmo National Marine Park which is the only living coral reef in the Sea of Cortez.
