Aside from a trio of breezy beaches, Florida’s somewhat unsung Vero Beach, about 95 miles up the Atlantic coast from Palm Beach, is also home to some prime real estate. You’ll find some of those plum digs in Windsor, a private, guard-gated residential community co-founded by Hilary and Galen Weston in the early 1990s. The duo tapped planners Andrés Duany and Elizabeth Plater-Zyberk for its design, which prioritizes a leisurely seaside lifestyle mixed with traditional architecture and a top-flight slate of amenities.
A four- and potentially five-bedroom residence overlooking one of the many lakes that dot the almost 500-acre enclave makes its new owners neighbors with tennis legend Ivan Lendl and the Swarovski family. The home was designed by Brenner & Associates Architecture, completed in 2007, and fully renovated in 2023 to adopt an indoor-outdoor layout that spills out to the swimming pool. A gated auto court, central courtyard, and poolside cabana are other key fixtures of the property that recently listed for $5.75 million and is already under contract.

Beyond the entry loggia, next to a courtyard housing date palm trees, is the foyer. An airy family room, which can be converted to a bedroom, is off to one side beneath a vaulted ceiling; tall windows on three walls allow for streams of natural light to bounce off dark-stained hardwood floors and illuminate a bank of built-in shelving. In the opposite direction, the 38-foot-long great room has ample space for dining and lounging in front of a gas fireplace, plus access to the south loggia via French doors.
Travertine floors extend into the gourmet kitchen that’s finished with white porcelain countertops and a 16-foot-long island and breakfast bar. You can step out onto the covered back gallery from here as well, where there’s a swimming pool and spa alongside an open-air cabana with a gas fireplace. The serene views from here are only outdone by vistas from the south-facing balcony outside the second-floor bedrooms.

The carriage house has space for cars and golf carts on the ground floor and a two-bedroom, one-bath apartment above, complete with a north-facing balcony, kitchenette, and living room.
Windsor’s world-class amenities include a Robert Trent Jones Jr.-designed golf course, a Stan Smith-designed tennis club, and a fitness and wellness center, plus a beach club with restaurants led by executive chef Justin Schreiber, a former chef at both The Ritz-Carlton and The Little Nell. There’s also a post office, a concierge office for booking excursions, a village store, a dog park, and several outdoor spots that host performances and cultural events.
