It’s fun to walk into a Trader Joe’s and find something seasonal or new almost every time. Maybe it’s a bag of dried fruit or hot cocoa mix, but whatever it is, it’s new and you feel compelled to try it. That’s the feeling I got when I saw Trader Joe’s Cheesy Herby Biscuits. Could this seasonal product be the new “hot” item on my Thanksgiving table? Of course, I grabbed a box to find out.

I take pride in cooking most of the Thanksgiving meal, but I’ll admit there are some items that I wouldn’t mind outsourcing. For example, I often make homemade dinner rolls for holiday meals, but the process is time-consuming. Whipping up one batch is challenging enough, but feeding my whole family means I need to make at least two pans, and well, you can see where this is going. Could Trader Joe’s Cheesy Herby Biscuits hold up as the stand-in for my rolls?

Trader Joe’s Cheesy Herby Biscuits

  • Price: $4.99 for six biscuits

  • Why I Love It: They're so easy to bake, crispy on the outside, and super soft inside. The herby flavor makes them the perfect pairing for all the usual Thanksgiving dishes.

My Honest Review of Trader Joe’s Cheesy Herby Biscuits

The biscuits won my heart immediately when I saw that all I had to do was plop them right from the box onto a baking sheet and then into the oven. It doesn’t get much easier than that.

After a quick 30 minutes, they were golden brown and ready to serve. The exterior crust was crisp and the interior was light and soft. I definitely tasted the cheese, and while I noted herbs, rosemary was the most prominent flavor. I knew from this simple taste test that the biscuits would pair well with piles of turkey, green bean casserole, and cranberries. What a relief!

The downside to this seasonal Trader Joe’s item is that there are only six biscuits in each box. While that’s enough to feed a small crowd, it won’t be sufficient for a full family-and-friends-style gathering, so you’ll likely need to buy more than one box. That being said, I’m convinced that the time savings (vs. making something from scratch) make it worth it.

If you’re not sure about serving these biscuits at the main event, consider using them as the base for all of the turkey sandwiches that come afterward. Or serve them up with scrambled eggs and bacon for the next morning’s breakfast. There are plenty of ways to enjoy these biscuits, and they’re only here for a limited time, so grab a box and try them for yourself.
