This $33 Million Waterfront Mansion in Miami Beach Was Inspired by Paris’s Famed Left Bank
Forget Paris. A newly listed home in South Florida is as glamorous as living along the Siene. Located on the Venetian Islands, a man-made archipelago in Biscayne Bay between Miami and Miami Beach, a waterfront mansion inspired by—and named after—the Rive Gauche in the City of Light has hit the market for $33 million. Listed with Dina Goldentayer of Douglas Elliman, the sophisticated spread was developed by Nicolas Chambon, the president of France-based commercial real estate firm Socri and a partner in Galeries Lafayette, the famed Parisian department store chain.
According to The Wall Street Journal, Chambon snapped up the quarter-acre property on Dilido Drive back in 2018 for $5.85 million. He soon demolished the existing home and began building Maison Rive Gauche, a 6,084-square-foot ultra-modern residence that was a whopping six years in the making. The award-winning architecture studio Strang Design was tasked with bringing Chambon’s vision of cool refinement to life, with Florida’s Dunagan Diverio handling the interiors. Among the notable features are a sculptural louvered staircase, backlit Italian millwork, walls paneled in white oak, and a water garden with a statue by artist Jean Martin.

Altogether, the palatial estate comprises five bedroom suites—all with private terraces—and six full bathrooms. Upon entering, the grand salon immediately impresses with soaring 22-foot ceilings, a custom bar alongside a 420-gallon built-in aquarium, and a water-facing TV lounge lined with moving walls of glass that facilitate relaxed indoor-outdoor living. Nearby, the sleek, monochromatic chef’s kitchen is equipped with oak cabinets and an exceptionally long island, plus top-of-the-line Gaggenau appliances and a butler’s pantry.

Elsewhere, the primary bedroom spans a whopping 1,400 square feet and sports walk-in closets, dual baths, and a balcony with an outdoor rain shower. Other architectural and design details include a glass elevator, a home theater, and a 3,000-square-foot landscaped rooftop lounge with bay and skyline views. For the latter, Chambon told the newspaper he spruced things up by planting tropical trees for privacy, installing a pergola, and adding an outdoor dining area. In the back of the house, you’ll find an 80-foot zero-edge infinity pool, 60 feet of bay frontage, and a brand new dock to park your boat.
As for why Chambon is leaving? “For now, I have too much on my plate in Europe,” he told the WSJ. “There will be more houses. Maybe I can keep the next one for me. That’s the plan.”
