18 most shocking moments from “The Challenge” season 40 reunion part 1
"Battle of the Eras" already crowned three champions, but the drama didn't end at the finish line.
Warning: This article contains spoilers for The Challenge: Battle of the Eras reunion part 1.
Now that three players have been crowned champions of The Challenge: Battle of the Eras, it's time to rehash all the fights, hook-ups, and issues of the season in a two-part reunion. And while the season 40 competition may be over thanks to Jordan Wiseley, Rachel Robinson, and Jenny West, the drama certainly isn't.
Below, Entertainment Weekly rounds up the 18 most shocking moments from Wednesday's part 1 of The Challenge: Battle of the Eras reunion.

Cara Maria and Laurel get their hair and makeup done in the same room, right next to each other. Jodi clocks the tension between them right away. Whichever production assistant scheduled these two to have their glam done at the same time deserves a raise.
Tina kicks off the reunion by saying the show's evolution since she first started competing has "gone to s---," which elicits both laughs and groans from everyone. But when she begins to give a serious answer, Nehemiah abruptly walks offstage — Olivia says he's hungover and is about to get sick. Unfortunately, he doesn't take off his mic before puking into a bucket, so all the sounds are projected loudly onstage. We didn't get a puking montage during this season's final, so hats off to producers for finding a way to sneak it into the reunion.
"I should not have been allowed to sneak through like that," Jordan says of his dominating performance in the final before laughing. "To not see an elimination is wild!" Everyone agrees, but then Tina calls out Jordan for "all" of his "lies," and says he's not a "worthy champion" because "he's an a--hole and he f---ing manipulates people." But then she admits she's only saying that because he's part of the reason why she got eliminated. You can always count on Tina for calling herself out.
When Michele tears up about losing second place due to the Karma vote, Laurel (of all people!) gives her words of encouragement about how she can still get there again based on her performance this season. No one saw that coming!
Tori jokes she's the "most overrated Challenger" after miscounting her coins by a thousand during the overnight final checkpoint. She also reveals she was "s---ing" herself after the last elimination before the final, and Johnny Bananas says he also did throughout the entire season in Vietnam.
After a visit from the medic backstage, Nehemiah decides to put his jacket back on and tough out the rest of the reunion. "I have a little stomach condition and Amsterdam tried to get the best of me," he explains.
Michele calls CT the most overrated Challenger, which shocks absolutely everyone. "Anyone but him!" Devin yells. "Sorry babe, you're on your own."
Devin recants his comments from years ago about liking Amanda because she "crossed the line" with two people he loves, a.k.a. Tori and Michele. He no longer is "an Amanda guy," and there's no better time to then bring Amanda out from hiding. She joins the cast onstage in a surprise appearance dressed in a red leather bodysuit, cape, and devil horns to proudly declare she doesn't believe Devin and Michele's relationship is "authentic." No surprise there. What's more shocking is that self-proclaimed pot stirrer Amanda added nothing to this reunion (at least in this episode) — although, considering she was the first to be eliminated, maybe that's simply to be expected.
Cory zooms into the reunion and tries to exorcize Amanda with water through the screen. Cory reveals he made a deal with Nia before Amanda tried to make a deal with him "in the name of Nelson" before the first elimination. Bananas, Josh, and other cast members then roast Cory for needing daily check-ins to confirm alliances and deals. Cory and Josh continue to yell at each other about Josh being friends with everyone in the house and whether he sacrificed his game for Cory on Challenge: USA. Anyone else getting tired of this rivalry?
Tina's still mad at Jordan and Nia for smiling when they told her they were voting her into elimination. "I'm above this," Nia tells her. "She's just kicking and screaming because she didn't get her way," Jordan agrees.
Olivia and Theo are still together! Theo reveals he got his visa and could see himself moving to America to be with her. Olivia reveals her "Theo" tattoo behind her ear is real, but she owns her own tattoo shop and can remove it "if need be." Josh reveals he saw Theo cry the day he went to the airport and left Olivia in the game. They're officially more than a showmance.
Devin and Michele are also still together! Michele caught feelings "way before he did," and Devin reveals they had "preseason activity," meaning they were hooking up before the season began. "I don't think I'm the marriage type, but if I would marry anyone, it would be Michele," Devin says.
Bananas continues telling his story of why he tried to intervene in Devin and Michele's relationship, but Devin calls it invalid. We've heard both of them tell their sides of the story on multiple podcasts throughout the season, so there's no need to go over it all again. Michele calls out Bananas for trying to frame Devin's feelings for her as sabotaging Bananas' game, but Bananas calls Devin a hypocrite for doing the same thing to him on Ride or Dies with Moriah ("It's true," Tori confirms). "I will say this, I've got egg on my face because I didn't expect them to still be together at the reunion show," Bananas admits. However, Bananas says he has no ill will towards anyone, and Devin says they can move on. All three of them hug (while Bananas pretends to try to make out with Michele).
Aneesa says she felt "disposable" on Era 1 but Rachel argues that she and CT based their first elimination vote on Aneesa finishing "significantly after Jodi" in the Era Invitational, and she wanted to keep it fair. "The day before we did elimination, she said, 'I'll save you,'" Aneesa argues. "I was f---ing furious. I would have never done it to you... You are the most selfish person here."
Bananas picks Jenny as his favorite "Bananas Angels" because they played Total Madness together and won together, so they came into this season on really solid ground.
Tori and Bananas still love each other despite targeting each other all season over the Devin drama.
Bananas takes off his shoe and sock to once again clip his toenails onstage. That's officially the grossest thing that's ever happened during a reunion.
When it comes to the Laurel and Cara Maria fight this season, Laurel doesn't feel like she "deserves" everything Cara Maria puts on her. But Cara Maria argues that Laurel constantly goes "so low" in "certain places you don't go" to people on the show. Laurel fires back, "That, I feel like, is a reflection of the experiences that she's had in her life, and that's why I wish her love and peace and healing." Cara Maria says she just wants "all of this to end" and be "buried" so she can move on and continue to have fun and make better friendships on the show like she did after Laurel left. Cara says she would still do seasons where Laurel is on the cast, but Laurel doesn't like doing seasons with Cara. It's clear they're both done with each other, so please, never call them "sisters" again.
