“16 and Pregnant” alum Autumn Crittendon dies at 27, authorities investigating

Crittendon, who had three children, appeared on the fifth season of the MTV reality show.

Autumn Crittendon, also known as Autumn Oxley, who appeared on MTV’s 16 and Pregnant in the show's fifth season, is dead at 27. A death investigation is underway.

Police and fire responders were called to a home in the 700 block of Chinkapin Court in Sandston, Va., around 3:15 p.m. on Saturday, July 20, after a report of a medical emergency, according to police.

"Once on scene, officers and fire personnel located an adult female unresponsive within the residence," a statement provided to Entertainment Weekly from the Henrico County Police Department says. "Members from Henrico Fire attempted life-saving measures however they were not effective. The adult female, Autumn Oxley, 27, of Henrico, was pronounced deceased at the scene."

The statement continues, "Henrico Police are currently classifying this incident as a death investigation. Detectives are working with the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner on this case to determine the exact cause and manner of death."

Crittendon was the mother of three young children.

According to PEOPLE, on Sunday, Crittendon’s sister, Misty, changed her Facebook profile picture to a sweet photo of the duo as kids, alongside the hashtags: “#JusticeforAutumn #CrittendonStrong."

Crittendon's death comes months after another 16 and Pregnant alum, Sean Garinger, died in an ATV accident at the age of 20. The reality star, who shared two children with his ex Selena Gutierrez, was driving the vehicle near his home in Boone, N.C., when the accident occurred.

"I was with him when it happened. He was just moving from one parking spot to the next for me, so I could back into park," his mother, Mary Hobbs, told The U.S. Sun at the time. "He pulled [in] front of me to park the ATV and the ground gave way from all the rain and mud."

She continued, "There was a huge part of my heart that died with my son on Wednesday. He was my only son, my rock, my strength when I had none left."

!6 and Pregnant first began airing on MTV in 2009. The sixth and most recent season aired its last episode in April 2021.
