Frank Lloyd Wright is one of the world’s most notable architects, whose trailblazing style has inspired countless residential and commercial architectural designs. Wright was known for his use of natural materials, organic architecture, and a connection with nature. Most of his structures feature low-slung, flat roofs that appear to blend into the landscape. While this specific property at 6 Quail Meadow Drive in Woodside, California, wasn’t designed by Wright, his style permeates the entire home. This $14.5 million estate was designed in 1989 by architect William A. Churchill, who was heavily influenced by Wright’s design philosophy.
Woodside, a sleepy, affluent enclave on the edge of Silicon Valley, is known for its elegant variety of homes, from Italian-inspired mansions to historic trophy estates. High-profile past and current residents include Oracle founder Larry Ellison, Apple’s John Sculley, and SoftBank CEO Masayoshi Son. A private driveway leads you to the home’s landscaped motor court, which is surrounded by an acre of professionally managed vineyards that produce Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Vermentino grape varietals. Inside, the contemporary home features soaring 35-foot-high teak ceilings with several skylights and a free-flowing floor plan.
