'1000-Lb Best Friends' Vannessa Gets Emotional After Losing 200 Pounds

Over the past two years, 1000-Lb Best Friends star Vannessa Cross underwent an extreme weight loss transformation. She dropped a staggering 200 pounds through bariatric surgery, major lifestyle changes and excess skin removal surgery. And in Season 3 of the TLC series, Vannessa got emotional as she tried on wigs after experiencing hair loss.

Ahead of the Tuesday, Nov. 12 episode of 1000-Lb Best Friends, TLC shared an exclusive sneak peek clip with Parade of the touching moment.

In the video, Vannessa tried on a variety of wigs after her incredible weight loss—which can temporarily affect hair follicles and growth. She broke down after seeing herself in a synthetic, long blond wig.

"Oh my god. That's the natural kind of look that I've always had. It is so pretty," she declared.

"I just haven't seen her in a long time," Vannessa added as she fought back tears. "You know, I really hadn't. And it's something I've been needing, so...God, this brings me back."

"When you're big like I was—I was 500 pounds—honey, I was never once like, 'Oh my God, my teeth, my hair, my nails.," Vannessa said in a confessional. "For some reason, when you start losing weight, you start worrying more about your outward appearance."

She continued, "Now, I'm not just this fat blob sitting in a chair. Now I'm getting to where this matters. I have to define it. I have to make it. I have to change it. I have to add to it."

Vannessa also shared that she "cannot wait for the day when my mind catches up with my body and I'm able to see the smaller Vannessa."

She concluded, "I really do hope with me getting this new hair, that I'm able to look in the mirror and help my brain understand, 'Honey, you are looking beautiful.'"

New episodes of 1000-Lb Best Friends air on Tuesdays at 10 p.m. ET on TLC.
