Mrs Singh and husband Daynie, had their first daughter Cara in July 2008, and then had twins Laura and Jenna less than nine months later.

The couple always wanted to have their children close together and when baby Cara was three months old they started trying again for another baby. They were taken by surprise when Mrs Singh fell pregnant shortly after, "If it was going to take a year or so to fall pregnant, then we wanted to start trying straight away. I actually fell pregnant the first time we started trying, which was a bit of a surprise."

The Singhs were in for an even bigger shock when, at 12 weeks into the pregnancy, they were told they were expecting twins. "I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. I was in complete shock. I’d had a lot more morning sickness with this pregnancy, but I had never imagined that I could be carrying twins”, Mrs Singh said.

Then in April 2009, at just 28 weeks pregnant, Mrs Singh gave birth to the twin girls, she said: “It was so frightening that the babies were on their way at such an early stage. We didn’t even know if they would survive. We really thought that we were going to lose them.”

Weighing in at approximately a kilogram each, the twins were rushed to St Mary’s Hospital in Manchester. Jenna had suffered two bleeds on the brain, had a hole in her heart and a collapsed lung and she was not expected to survive. She was later diagnosed with cerebral palsy and doctors said she may never walk.

However, she has managed to beat the odds and Mrs Singh says, “Jenna has been helped so much by her sisters. It has given her the goal and incentives to keep up with them, which has helped her enormously”. She says even though the girls all have very different personalities, "Laura is the creative one who loves climbing, Jenna is the quiet studious one who loves reading books and Cara is the sociable one", they still have a very strong bond between the three of them.

Mrs Singh says she can’t believe she had three babies in only nine months, but adds that she wouldn’t change it for the world.
