Charlotte Dawson hospitalised following Twitter attacks

Much-loved Aussie TV host and former model Charlotte Dawson was admitted to Sydney's St Vincent's Hospital last night, after she was targeted in a string of scathing comments on Twitter.

The attacks began after Dawson spoke out against Twitter bullies during her two TV appearances last night, with vindictive hash-tags created calling on the star to "go hang yourself".

Following the cruel comments - which she re-tweeted, a tactic commonly employed to expose Twitter "trolls" - Dawson tweeted:

"Hope this ends the misery," followed by, "You win x"

A spokesperson A St Vincent's Hospital spokesman said 46-year-old Dawson expected to make a "full recovery", News Ltd is reporting.

"She has asked that her privacy be respected," he said. "She is sitting up in bed and she's in good hands."
