Aussie pop singer and children's TV host Edith Bliss has died.

The news was posted on the singer's Facebook page by her daughter Eden Tanner, writing:

"To Edith's many loved ones: today the world lost a wonderful mother, a compassionate friend and one hell of a woman."

Edith's presenter spot on the 1980s children show Wonder World with journalist Simon Townsend led her to become one of Australia's most loved TV hosts, after her success with pop singles If It's Love You Want and Heart Of Stone.

On Facebook, daughter Eden said her mother "passed very peacefully early this morning and her infectious spirit will be missed by all. You're with the angels now, Mum."
