World's Most Powerful Women

The three women were included in Forbes’ annual list of 100 powerful women, with Gaga placed at number 11, Oprah at 14 and Beyonce at 18. Michelle Obama was at number eight.

Angelina Jolie featured at number 29 and was credited for both her acting and humanitarian work.

Discussing the list, Forbes contributor Caroline Howard explained why a number of television journalists were on it.

She added : “Other famous faces make the list this year because they have exploited their celebrity status to build global businesses or champion humanitarian causes. Lady Gaga raised over $200 million to fight HIV/AIDS while Angelina Jolie continues her work as a United Nations Goodwill Ambassador."

A number of women in the list had self-made fortunes, including Oprah and JK Rowling. The list was topped by German chancellor Angela Merkel.
