CARMELO PIZZINO: ‘I LOST 28KG AND BEAT DEPRESSION’

In an exclusive interview with New Idea, Dancing with the Stars favourite Carmelo Pizzino reveals that not so long ago his depression was so severe he struggled to get out of bed – and he ballooned to 110kg. ‘Inside it was killing me, I was dying,’ Carmelo confides. ‘My whole dream of dance seemed to have disappeared,’ he says, recalling the dark days before his debut on the show in 2006. ‘I couldn’t get any work and I thought I wasn’t good enough anymore. I realised I had to get my dreams back, so I started researching nutrition, eating sensibly and going to the gym. I am Italian so I still had a cheeky wine here and there – I still do – but I changed my whole lifestyle.’
