Over the past 75 years, Vivienne Westwood has been breaking rules left, right and center. Here are 10 of the most memorable times that she threw caution into the wind:

1. That time she rescued a model from a wardrobe malfunction, mid-runway show
Earlier this year, Westwood rescued a model from an embarrassing wardrobe malfunction when her shirt unravelled on the runway. Westwood ran to the model’s aid to help her cover up.

2. That time she drove a tank to British PM David Cameron’s home
Just last year, at 74 years of age, Westwood drove a tank up to David Cameron’s house to protest against fracking. She sat in the position usually reserved for the tank’s gunner. Well, that’s one way to get his attention!

3. That time she met the Queen, sans underwear
No, that wasn’t a typo. When Westwood collected her O.B.E from the Queen in 1992, she decided that wearing underwear wasn’t necessary.

4. That time she wore a politically charged pin on the red carpet
Well, it was a poster pinned to coat. In 2013, Westwood wore a picture of Chelsea Manning’s face to the Met Gala, following Manning’s arrest in relation to the WikiLeaks scandal.

5. That time she supported the Scottish independence movement on the runway
During her 2015 Spring runway show, Westwood’s models walked down the runway sporting a pin that read ‘yes,’ in reference to Scotland’s vote on independence. What can we say? The woman loves a politically charged pin.

6. That time she created a t-shirt to support Julian Assange
WikiLeaks is a cause close to Westwood’s heart. So much so, she created a t-shirt that read ‘I’m Julian Assange’ which was available for purchase through her website in 2012.

7. That time she shaved her head for climate change
Because who needs hair anyway? In 2014, Westwood shaved her famous locks off in an effort to draw attention to climate change.

8. That time she dressed Carrie Bradshaw for her wedding to Mr Big
Despite being the Queen of Punk, Westwood embraced pop culture by dressing Sex and the City character Carrie Bradshaw for her wedding to Mr Big in the first SATC movie.

9. That time she went totally nude
Yes, nude. Completely starkers. Back in 2012, Westwood took her kit off for photographer Juergen Teller as part of his ‘Men and Women’ exhibition.

10. That time she, you know, *invented* punk fashion
We saved the best ‘til last! This is Vivienne Westwood we’re talking about. The woman is a pioneer of punk. She and Malcom McLaren the legendary punk boutique at 430 King’s Road in London in 1971. Initially, it was called ‘Let It Rock’ before changing to ‘Sex’, ‘Too Fast To Live Too Young To Die’ and then ‘Seditionaries’.
