Gucci's Chime For Change To Air In Australia

How’s this for an enviable power girl line-up? Beyonce, Madonna, Florence and the Machine, Jennifer Lopez and Rita Ora, all on one concert bill – and we all get to watch for free.

The “Sound Of Change Live” concert – being touted as the LiveAid of its generation – will reach a worldwide audience of millions, with Channel 10 just announced as the national broadcaster in Australia.

Presented by Gucci’s innovative Chime for Change campaign, the four-hour, star-studded line-up will be held in London on Saturday June 1, and aims to place girls’ and women’s issues on the world stage.

In a world-first, ticket buyers will be able to nominate the education, health or social justice project the money from their ticket will fund. (If the concert is a sellout at least 120 projects supporting girls and women will be funded).

The live coverage starts on Channel 10 at the eye-popping time of 3am on Sunday June 2 and continues til 7am. If you don't fancy staying up late, the concert in its entirety will be repeated on Channel ELEVEN on both Friday June 7 from 7.30pm and on Saturday June 8, from 7am.

According to Frida Giannini, Gucci creative director and Chime for Change co-founder (along with Beyonce and Salma Hayek), the funds raised from the concert will “have a major impact on the lives of thousands of girls and women around the world”.

“Thanks to Beyonce and the amazing line-up of performers and presenters, the stage at Twickenham on June 1 will be filled with powerful voices of change who believe that girls and women everywhere deserve the right to be educated, healthy, safe and celebrated,’’ she said.
