MBFWA 2012 Show Review: Zimmermann
Fashion bloggers Elin Kling and Susie Bubble sat alongside stars including Jodi Gordon to witness a collection described by Nicky Zimmermann as “strong and unafraid but still feminine.”
The Zimmermann signature aesthetic was very much intact, with pretty pastels, delicate florals and billowing chiffon shirts juxtaposing sharp peplum tops and mesh detailing.
“80s bedsheet florals at Zimmermann,” front row fixture Susie Bubble summed up on Twitter.
It wasn’t just the clothes that included the print on print aesthetic – Zimmermann’s highly coveted swimwear line was a mesh of prints on pastel backgrounds, each one carefully tailored in delicate bow designs.

“Central to the collection is the way we have mixed prints and mixed different fabric textures,” Nicky told marie claire before the show. “We’ve placed our prints on a mix of bases – key silks are coated to make them high tech and high sheen. We want them to glisten and shine.”
And shine they did – right down to the makeup, which included silver shadow delicately placed around the model’s eyes to pick up the subtle highlights in the collection.
