The Victoria’s Secret ‘Perfect Body’ ads are no more. After receiving 26,000 signatures on an online petition to “amend the irresponsible marketing” of displaying the phrase “the perfect body” against an array of models with exactly the same ‘perfect’ body type, the company has changed the wording of the campaign.

The ads still feature the same line-up of 10 models wearing the company’s new ‘Body’ bra and underwear range. But now, the slogan reads “A body for every body”.

The students from a UK university who started the petition said that although the change of wording is a positive move, they still feel like the campaign falls short of responsible marketing.

“The advert is kind of ironic because it says ‘for every body’ and yet it’s just one kind of body,” co-founder of the petition Gabriella Kountourides told the UK’s Telegraph. “We would love to see [Victoria’s Secret] incorporate more girls and bodies.”
