Anne Hathaway Marries In Valentino Dress

Actress Anne Hathaway has tied the knot in a custom-designed, handmade Valentino gown.

The 32-year old actress said “I do” to her partner of four years, Adam Schulman, wearing a voluminous, off-the-shoulder design with crowning veil that “cascaded” down the hemline of the gown.

Made entirely of lace and tulle, the creation also featured a cinched-in waist and spot detail.

It’s not the first time Anne Hathaway has donned one of Valentino’s elaborate creations for a major event – the actress has long been a loyal fan of the brand, having worn Valentino on the red carpet many times.

“I am so happy for Anne. And I would do my best creation for her,” Valentino told PEOPLE prior to the wedding. “She’s a lovely person. She wears the clothes very, very well. So I would do something special.”

The dress also gave Hathaway the chance to show off her shorter locks, which she cut off in anticipation of an upcoming role as a French prostitute in the film Les Misérables.

"I wasn’t expecting [cutting my hair] to be a big deal,” said Hathaway. “It was my idea to do it, since it was something the character did...but then I realised I couldn’t take it back. I was reduced to a mental patient level of crying...I was inconsolable.”

It seems Hathaway has adjusted to her new look, using it as a chance to don the elaborate crowing headpiece designed by Valentino.

“A lot of women probably imagine long flowing locks pinned into a meticulously braided updo (not that there's anything wrong with that) underneath a sheer veil, but Anne just proved that short hair on your wedding day can be just as beautiful,” commented refinery29.
