Nobody ever said luxury handbags were cheap, but the price tag on one of Louis Vuitton’s carryalls is giving us serious sticker shock.

The folks over at Purse Blog spied this very fancy alligator skin City Steamer MM bag that will set you back a pretty penny – AU$76,119 (US$55,500) to be exact, which is as much as some colleges charge for yearly tuition.

Because why pay for an education when you can blow your coins on leather goods?

According to Purse Blog, Vuitton has sold a handbag (made from traditional handbag materials, as they specified) almost as expensive as this one – the Crocodile Lady Bag PM, which went for $54,500.

Currently, the house is selling the Dora PM handbag for AU$69,199 (US$50,000).

Vuitton says their City Steamer purse has “ample room for papers and files,” though we hope that’s not the only thing a wealthy woman-about-town would be holding in a bag so pricey.

The bag features an engraved lock charm and cowhide lining and can be used as a crossbody bag, thanks to its extra removable strap.

So at the very least, it’s a versatile piece, though we wonder if your money is better spent putting a down payment on something like an apartment, than putting it all on a beautiful purse.

But hey, if $76,000 is a mere drop in the bucket for you, who is anyone to judge?
