Supermodel Naomi Campbell won't be winning any spelling bee championships soon with an embarrassing social media faux pas.

The fashionable 44-year-old congratulated "malaria" on Instagram and on Twitter for winning the 2014 Nobel Peace Prize.

Campbell, who heads up The Face Australia judging panel alongside Cheyenne Tozzi and Nicole Trunfio, meant to type Malala, specifically Malala Yousafzai, who was the joint winner of the 2014 Nobel Peace Prize.

Yousafzai - the Pakistani girls' education activist who was shot in the head by a Taliban gunman two years ago - won the prestigious award along with Indian child rights activist Kailash Satyarthi.

At 17-years-old, Yousafzai is the youngest-ever Nobel Peace Prize winner.

However, Campbell didn’t just spell the young activist’s name wrong – she also misspelt Nobel as “noble”.

“Congratulations malaria on your #noblepeaceprize #2014 #Respect #joy #ithalljuststarted” posted the supermodel.

Social media enthusiasts were quick to jump on the supermodel’s spelling mistakes.

"Malaria is now trending in London. Naomi Campbell is going to start a mosquito-related panic," tweeted @TheAzzo.

“Malaria?!?! Are you on glue?” tweeted @baj1983.

After deleting her error-laden post, the persistent Campbell tried again.

“Darlings my iPhone and I are at odds it seems I type a word it seems to spit out another , forgive me congratulations @malalafund on your #2014 noblepeaceprize #youngestever #respect #inspire #admire,” she captioned a picture of Yousafzai to her more than one million Instagram followers.

Perhaps the supermodel should ditch social media and stick to the catwalk.
