Amazon MGM Studios issued a trigger warning ahead of the release of Zoë Kravitz's movie Blink Twice.

On Aug. 21, the warning was posted to the film's official social media accounts and began, "We are proud to finally share Blink Twice with audiences in theaters worldwide this week."

"Blink Twice is a psychological thriller about the abuse of power," the post continued. "While this is a fictionalized movie, it contains mature themes and depictions of violence — including sexual violence. This may be upsetting or triggering for some viewers. For resources that offer support, visit BlinkTwiceResources.com."

The post comes after the recently released It Ends With Us, which depicts domestic violence, was criticized by some for not being upfront enough about its subject matter.

It Ends With Us — starring Blake Lively and directed by her costar Justin Baldoni — includes the following message in its end credits: "If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic violence, help is available. Visit: www.nomore.org for information and support."

The film, adapted from Colleen Hoover's 2016 novel of the same name, also partnered with nomore.org on a "Viewers’ Guide ... to help increase awareness and action that’s needed to stop domestic and sexual abuse and encourage healthy relationships."

Bridgette Stumpf, founder and executive director of Network for Victim Recovery of DC (NVRDC), recently wrote in an essay for The Hollywood Reporter that It End With Us "ultimately fails the survivors it is supposed to advocate for," by "glossing over its domestic violence content in the film’s marketing, and by not providing any content warnings prior to the start of the film."

"When watching the film in a packed theater with a colleague on opening night, our first reaction as the film ended was disappointment that no resources were immediately offered for survivors as soon as credits rolled," Stumpf wrote. "Later, there was an end credits message, though it came after many had left."

Lively, 36, previously spoke about the themes in It Ends With Us, and her character Lily Bloom, on the red carpet at the London premiere of the movie on Aug. 8, before its wide release the following day.

"The movie covers domestic violence, but what's important about this film is that she is not just a survivor and not just a victim. And while those are huge things to be, they're not her identity," she told the BBC. "She's not defined by something that someone else did to her or an event that happened to her, even if it's multiple events. She defines herself."

"I think that that's deeply empowering to remind people that no one else can define you, no experience can define you — you define you," Lively continued. "I really feel like we delivered a story that's emotional and it's fun and it's funny and it's painful and it's scary and it's tragic and it's inspiring. And that's what life is."

Also on her Instagram Stories, the Gossip Girl alum posted resources for survivors of domestic violence. "Everyone deserves relationships free from domestic violence. The National Domestic Violence Hotline provides confidential support 24/7/365," Lively wrote, adding a link to the hotline as well as, "For immediate help text 'START' to 88788."

It Ends With Us is rated PG-13 "for domestic violence, sexual content and some strong language," according to the Motion Picture Association (MPA).

Blink Twice, which marks the directorial debut for Kravitz, 35, and stars her fiancé Channing Tatum, is rated R "for strong violent content, sexual assault, drug use and language throughout, and some sexual references," per the MPA.

A synopsis for that film teases that cocktail waitress Frida (Naomi Ackie) travels to tech billionaire Slater King's (Tatum) private island. "Strange things start to happen" there, and "there is something wrong with this place." Frida has to "uncover the truth if she wants to make it out of this party alive."

It Ends With Us is in theaters now. Blink Twice is in theaters Aug. 23.
