Zendaya Says She Helped Timothée Chalamet Furnish His First N.Y.C. Apartment: 'The Vibe Was Very Teenage Boy'
"We needed some structure," Zendaya said of her 'Dune' costar's first time living on his own
Zendaya is there for her friend Timothée Chalamet.
As Chalamet, 28, and Zendaya, 27, appeared alongside their Dune: Part Two costars
Florence Pugh and Austin Butler on Jimmy Kimmel Live Thursday, the pair joked that Chalamet required some assistance when he first moved into a New York City apartment on his own.
"Speaking personally, I have great friendships with everyone here," Chalamet told host
Jimmy Kimmel, who asked if the foursome were friends prior to making the upcoming science fiction sequel. "Zendaya helped me set up my first apartment in New York years ago."
"Well, the vibe was very teenage boy," Zendaya added. "And we just needed a few necessities — you know, cups and plates, knives and forks, things to clean. We needed some structure."
The pair said they went to a Bed Bath & Beyond location in N.Y.C. to help Chalamet acquire items for his apartment — including a frame for his mattress.
"There was a bed — no bed frame," Chalamet joked, after Pugh suggested he did not even have a bed before Zendaya stepped in. "We got everything he needed — all the big boy stuff," Zendaya added.
Chalamet and Zendaya star as Paul Atreides and Chani, respectively, in Dune: Part Two. The epic is a follow-up to 2021's Dune: Part One and meets Chalamet's character Paul after he has allied with a group of people called the Fremen on the planet Arrakis. Butler, 32, and Pugh, 28, join the cast for the sequel, in addition to franchise newcomers Léa Seydoux, Christopher Walken, and Tim Blake Nelson.

Chalamet spoke to his close friendship with Zendaya during a 2022 interview with Variety, in which he teased that her character will receive significantly more screen time in the upcoming Dune sequel.
"She’s bringing exactly what she brought to the first one — which was incredible — but in greater abundance," he shared at the time. "And she’s really become a sister. I’m so grateful to count her as a partner and a sister and a friend."
