“Young and the Restless” Alum Jordi Vilasuso Asks for ‘Prayers’ as Daughter Is Admitted to NICU
Jordi and wife Kaitlin revealed on Instagram that their baby daughter Lucy has a "partially collapsed right lung" after a case of respiratory syncytial virus
Young and the Restless alum Jordi Vilasuso is asking for prayers for his youngest daughter.
The actor, 42, who announced the birth of his third daughter at 35 weeks with wife Kaitlin, 37, in December, revealed on Thursday that his baby daughter Lucy had been admitted to the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) with a “partially collapsed right lung.”
“Ah friends.. we come to you coveting your prayers yet again,” Jordi and Kaitlin wrote in a joint caption as they shared a photo of their daughter in the hospital. “I feel like all I do is ask you all for prayers or thank you for prayers.. I suppose that is just the season we’re in right now.”
In the first photo, Lucy is wrapped up in a blanket with tubes connected to her nose and mouth. A second slide features a shot of Lucy lying in a crib with wires connected to different medical equipment and a patient monitor.
“We found out Monday that Lucy had RSV and by Monday night she had been admitted to the hospital w/ difficulty breathing,” the parents added. “Last night, things unexpectedly took a turn for the worse and she was moved to NICU w/ what the doctors described as a partially collapsed right lung. I am still struggling to believe this as I type.”
Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is an infection of the lungs and respiratory tract, according to the Mayo Clinic. The illness is common in children under the age of 2, and babies under 12 months have a risk of developing severe infections. It can also affect adults and older children in the form of mild cold-like symptoms.
Jordi and Kaitlin concluded their caption by asking for prayers. “Please please pray with us for miraculous healing for Lucy’s precious little body,” they wrote. “We love her so much and just want her home and happy and in our arms.”

Meanwhile, Kaitlin also shared updates on her Instagram Story. Reposting a video of her sister, actress Bailee Madison, watching Lucy in the hospital, Kaitlin wrote, “My angel of a sister loving on our Lucy so we could love on our big girls for a few.”
In Madison’s Instagram Story, she thanked her followers for their support and asked them to continue keeping their “love and prayers and healing energy coming.”
Kaitlin also shared a snap of her holding hands with her husband and older daughters, Riley Grace, 10, and Everly Maeve, 7. “Thankful for family bedtime prayers for the first time since all of this happened..anxious to have the littlest hands in our circle back home," she captioned her Story.
She then shared a video of Lucy sleeping with her hand poking out of the blanket. “This little hand.. hi sweet baby,” the caption read.
Kaitlin and Jordi announced they were expecting their third baby in September 2023. At the time, the actor shared a photo with Kaitlin, their elder two daughters and a sonogram. "Grateful for your prayers for our growing family, my friends!” he captioned his post.
At the same time, Kaitlin shared her version of the same post on Instagram, detailing in the caption how she and Jordi had previously lost two children during pregnancy. "After two losses, this precious girl (💕) is an answer to our prayers and has already filled our hearts with so much hope and joy," she wrote.
Kaitlin also noted that she needed to undergo surgery while pregnant with Lucy to "help keep her safe in my belly" despite "risks to the procedure."
She concluded her post at the time by "humbly" asking fans for "love and prayer."
