What will the Yellowstone spinoff be called?

No name has been given to the spinoff, but it will likely have Yellowstone in it's name since it's a true spinoff, not a related Taylor Sheridan Western that follows the Dutton bloodline.

What will the Yellowstone spinoff be about?

The new Yellowstone spinoff will follow Beth and Rip's life after the events that will take place in the series finale of Yellowstone.

When will the Yellowstone spinoff take place?

The Yellowstone spinoff will take place in present day, likely soon after the series finale of Yellowstone.

Isn't there another Yellowstone series that takes place in present day?

Yes. The Madison is an upcoming series that takes place in present-day Montana. The series, originally called 2024, stars Michelle Pfeiffer and Matthew Fox and follows the Dutton bloodline much like prequel series 1883 and 1923. With the announcement of this new Yellowstone spinoff series, it's unclear if The Madison and the new spinoff will merge into one series or if they will remain separate series with unique storylines.

What was the original Yellowstone about?

The modern-day Western premiered in 2018 as a kickoff of sorts for the Paramount Network's rebrand (it was formerly Spike TV) and clearly hit a cultural nerve. Set in Montana, the series follows the trials and tribulations of the Dutton family, who controls the largest contiguous cattle ranch in the U.S.

Created by Taylor Sheridan, Yellowstone stars Kevin Costner as patriarch John Dutton, a man trying to keep the ranch in the family as they clash with land developers, a neighboring Indian reservation and several other foes on their quest to protect their legacy.

What time period will the Yellowstone spinoff be set?

The new Yellowstone spinoff will take place in present day.

Who will write the new Yellowstone series?

Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan, who wrote most, if not all, episodes of the flagship series will likely take the reins as head writer. Where Sheridan finds time to write is beyond us here at Parade. Aside from acting, producing and directing, Sheridan has written or co-written most of Lioness, 1883, Mayor of Kingstown and Tulsa King.

Who will star in the new Yellowstone spinoff?

Kelly Reilly (Beth Dutton Wheeler)

The British Reilly embodies Beth so perfectly, it's hard to believe she is not the unapologetic, unfiltered daughter of John Dutton. Reilly, who was typecast for comedic roles prior to taking on the role of Beth Dutton has previously starred in the Sherlock Holmes movies opposite Robert Downey Jr. as Mary, Watson's (Jude Law) paramour and eventual wife. She also starred in Britannia and the second season of True Detective.

Cole Hauser (Rip Wheeler)

Cole Hauser comes from an entertainment family—his dad is actor Wings Hauser, his uncle is actor Erich Hauser and his grandfather is director and producer Dwight Hauser. His mother, Cass Warner, founded the production company Warner Sisters and his great-grandfather was Harry Warner, one of the original founders of Warner Bros. Studios. His credits include the television series Rogue and films like 2 Fast 2 Furious and Olympus Has Fallen.

Will other Yellowstone characters and actors appear in the spinoff?

No word yet on what other characters may appear in the new Yellowstone spinoff, but we're likely to see more of Carter (Finn Little), Kayce (Luke Grimes), and maybe a few of the Bunkhouse Boys including Ryan (Ian Bohen), Teeter (Jen Landon) and Lloyd (J. Forrie Smith).

Who will not be on the Yellowstone spinoff?

Unless they appear in flashback scenes or as the ghosts of Christmas past, the only characters we are sure won't appear in the new Yellowstone series are the ones that have died on the oringinal series: John Dutton (Costner), Colby Mayfield (Denim Richards), Sarah Atwood, (Dawn Olivieri) and Garrett Randall (Will Patton).

When does the Yellowstone spinoff premiere?

The Yellowstone spinoff has yet to begin filming so it's unlikely we'll see it until the latter half of 2025, at the earliest. Check back here for updates!

How can I watch the Yellowstone spinoff series?

We hope the series will air on Paramount's linear entity, Paramount Network, but there's a chance the show will air on their streaming service, Paramount+, where many of Sheridan's series airs.
