The penultimate episode of Yellowstone Season 5 left many fans in awe as the fate of the Dutton family and their ranch seems clearer than ever.
On Sunday, December 8, viewers (and Beth) were blown away by Kayce’s ingenious solution for saving the family ranch. In the episode, Kayce approached Beth with a hypothetical scenario about her car, a snazzy $300,000 Bentley Continental GT Coupe. In the scene, he asked her if she were to sell the car for $1, would she have to pay taxes on the car’s worth or how much it was purchased for? Her answer? The latter.
Kayce’s solution to save the ranch? To virtually give it away. And because he’s the inherited owner of it after John’s passing, it seems there’s only one obvious answer as to who it will be sold to: Beth and Rip. This could be why Beth thanked Kayce for his thought process.
As enlightening as Kayce and Beth’s encounter seemed, there’s another car scene that fans can’t help but ponder.
“Did anyone peep the sound of the train horn in the background as Jaime got out of his car to walk into his kid’s mom’s house,” one fan commented on the show’s Instagram page, bringing an easily overlooked Easter Egg to light. “I heard that and I was like...😮😂😮😮😮,” another fan responded. “I heard it, but hotdog, you just put it all in perspective,” someone else exclaimed.
Meanwhile, some viewers think that some Yellowstone fans are too involved in Jamie conspiracy theories, claiming train horns are simply common in the places where the show is filmed, rather than an indication that Jamie is headed to the train station. But remember: This is Hollywood (even if it’s filmed in Montana).
“If they didn’t want the train horn in there specifically, it wouldn’t have been heard. It wasn’t random background noise, there’s no such thing in TV or movies. It all gets edited in or out,” one wise fan pointed out.
