We blind test $200 and $25 perfumes

Hello! And welcome to Beauty Calls, where we test and try the best the beauty world has to offer. Come for the news and reviews, stay for the occasional epic beauty fail. Join us on our journey to find our best beautiful selves!

What informs your perfume choice?

Is it a matter of a sleek bottle?

A price tag to write home about?

A favourite celebrity, or just a damn good smell?

Well, we removed the deceptive eyes and ears and invited our favourite guinea pigs at Yahoo Lifestyle to let their nostrils do the deciphering when it came to two scents at startling different price points.

First up we had Good Girl, Dot Drama from Carolina Herrera, and a slightly cheaper version of the perfume is available at Sephora for anyone interested.

A cool $195 from most retailers, the very musky, sensual scent is designer perfume at its peak.

In the opposing corner, we had Zara’s, Bright Rose.

Now I had heard girlfriends raving about this bad boy for at least a year.

Cheap, accessible and delightful smelling, or so I had been told, the Zara perfume range definitely had a moment in 2019.

This particular scent is flowery and bold, and a slightly cheaper option at $25.

So what did the noses say when the blindfolds were put on?

The results will definitely surprise you, but let’s just say not a single lady got it right.

Take from that what you will.
