Optus customers in Melbourne’s west have woken up to little or no coverage again after several towers were impacted by a cable break.
Customers in the Melton area appeared to be the most affected, with complaints that calls and text messages wouldn’t go through.
One frustrated customer took to Twitter, writing that Optus “has been the worst network ever!”
When Optus Help responded to the customer, pointing her to the Network Status page, she was quick to respond.
“I don’t need to visit a network page to tell me I have no network,” she replied.
The Optus Network Status page did say, however, that a “number of Optus mobile towers in this area (Melton) are not working”.
The under-fire telco told 7 News that the issue was being caused by a broken fibre cable and techs were on site repairing the damage.
“Due to an underground fibre break, Optus customers in and around Melton, Victoria may be experiencing service issues for their mobile, voice and data services,” an Optus spokesperson said.
“We apologise to customers for the inconvenience.”
The latest mishap comes less than two weeks after the nationwide outage that impacted customers for 12 hours, including public transport services and hospitals.
