Woolworths' innovative new egg product sparks fierce debate

Woolworths recently started stocking an innovative new egg product but it has divided opinion and sparked debate online.

Recently, Sunny Queen Farms released a new range of hard boiled eggs in a pack of four, which are ready to be taken off shelves and eaten.

“Run, don’t walk!” the company announced in a Facebook post about the new product.

“They’re perfectly cooked, delicious, and ready-to-eat! Just add them to your favourite salad or grab a handy Eggs2Go pack when you’re on-the-run!”

Sunny Queen Farms’ Peeled Hard Boiled Eggs are available at select Woolworths supermarkets and many were in awe of the new product - saying it will make their lives easier.

“Great idea if you just want to grab one when you're in a hurry. A last minute add to a lunch box or a quick snack,” one person said.

Debate rages over new Woolworths product

Unfortunately, the announcement wasn’t met with positivity everyone.

“Best to cook your own,” one person said.

“Not hard to throw a few eggs in a pot,” another said.

As others said there were devices which could help peel shells off eggs and argued that the product was overpriced.

Many of the negative comments appear to have since been deleted.

The vast majority of remaining comments are from people hitting back at those who were “belittling” others.

With many pointing out that the already boiled eggs would be convenient for an array of people including those with disabilities and the elderly.

“Congratulations to everyone who is able to boil and peel their own eggs. Obviously should be very proud of yourselves for belittling people who can’t,” one person said.

“Maybe try to boil an egg and then take the shell off with your fingers sticky taped together and then you may understand someone with fine motor issues and the difficulties they have.”

“Its not about being lazy, there are people out there who can't boil or cook an egg due to disabilities etc. this makes it more convenient and if you’re on the go why is it so bad as a quick grab and go?” someone else said.

“Better than grabbing a chocolate bar or chips.”

Many others praised the new product as a healthy choice.
