Woolies launches flower delivery ahead of Mother's Day

Woolworths has today launched contactless flower delivery to help Australian’s celebrate mum in a convenient but safe way this Mother’s Day.

The Aussie supermarket has teamed up with delivery partners Uber, Sherpa, and Yello, to offer the delivery service on select bouquets across 400 Woolworths stores.

Mother’s Day is the biggest season for flower sales and Woolworths expects to sell over 450,000 flower arrangements in this week, leading up to Mother’s Day.

“We know this Mother’s Day will feel different to previous years; some families have had more quality time with their mums than ever before as they learn and work from home, while others have gone weeks or months without being able to hug their mum,” Woolworths Managing Director Claire Peters said in a statement.

“But it’s more important than ever to celebrate mums, especially those who are working long hours to keep our communities safe and healthy.

“Flowers are always a popular gift during Mother’s Day, outdoing Valentine's Day by more than 55 per cent. This year there is a great range of Australian-grown flowers widely available across our stores, with oriental lilies, gerberas, and tulips the pick of the bunch.

To help make flower purchases easier, 700 stores will also offer Pick Up on orders across Australia. Orders can be placed online at woolworths.com.au/mothersday.

“Where available, customers can order in advance to secure a bouquet, as we expect stronger than usual demand,” Claire added.

And it’s not just flowers Woolies are focusing on for Mother’s Day.

Woolworths also launched special half price offers across a range of boxed chocolates, including Ferrero Rocher (6 pack 200g) $6.30 (WAS $12.60), Cadbury Roses (450g) $7.75 (WAS $15.50), Guylian Excellence (305g) $9 (WAS $18), and Lindt Lindor assorted gift box chocolates (235g) for $10 (WAS $20) when purchased with a bouquet of flowers.

If cooking is something you normally like to do with your mum, the supermarket has also launched a #cookwithmum social media campaign.

Calling on Australians to connect with their mum through virtual cooking – reminiscing on family recipes and moments together.
