You Can Now Check If Your Boyfriend Has Tinder

The beauty of Tinder is that it’s semi-anonymous and unsearchable. You can happily swipe away your spare time looking for your next hot hookup while only harbouring the vague fear that sooner or later you’ll come across someone you know.

Until now that is, last night Tinder released a new feature called Tinder Social in Australia. In a move vaguely reminiscent of the Madison Ashley scandal the feature allows you to easily check if your past or present lovers/relatives (ew)/friend's boyfriends/any one of your 800 odd Facebook friends have the popular dating app.

And you know what that means, don’t you? All of those people can see your profile too.

So if a few of your ~matches~ disappeared off your Tinder love list this morning, there’s a good chance they might actually be cheating scoundrels.

This whole scandal was actually bought on innocently (or was it?) by the company when they released Tinder Social. The new feature means you can create a group of your single Tinder gal pals and match up with other groups of guys (or girls) looking for a good time. Which in it self is questionable, but we’ll just go along with Tinder when they say the app encourages, “people to get off your phone, meet more people and be more Social.”

First of all, to create a group you’re going to need to know which of your mates are on Tinder, right? And this is where the outing comes into play.

Once you select ‘start a group’ you’ll see a list of your Facebook friends who are on the app pop up. This feature is opt-out, not opt-in. Which means as soon as Tinder Social was introduced everyone using the app was automatically added to this list. The only way to get off said list (and to stop all of your Facebook friends screen shotting your bio) is by opting out in your settings.

A quick scan will reveal which of your (taken) mates are on Tinder and with just a few clicks your can check out their money shot selfies and their life story on their bio too.

So, basically, today sucks if you’re a love rat and you’re using Tinder to cheat.
