Alcohol - our number one vice?

These are the surprise findings of a survey by FebFast - a charity organisation that encourages Australians to give up the grog for the month of February.

The survey, which questioned over 1000 people aged between 20 to 69 about their social drinking habits and preferences, also revealed that 30 per cent would rather go without their mobile phones for a month and 20 per cent would rather give up their car than give up the bottle.

Twelve per cent would go without seeing their friends for four weeks if it meant they could have a drink, and 60 per cent of respondents would prefer to steer clear of Facebook than their booze.

Sound off: could you give up alcohol for a month, or would you rather go without sex for four weeks than give up the grog?

FebFast, now in its third year, aims to create awareness of the dangers of drinking while raising funds to support youth alcohol and other drug services. To find out more, visit the FebFast website
