Raspberry skin brightener

2 tsp plain yoghurt
75g raspberries
3 drops sweet orange essential oil

Pulp raspberries in a food processor then sieve over a bowl, reserving flesh and seeds. (Drink the juice if you like - it's delish!) Add flesh and seeds to yoghurt and blend well; drop in essential oil and stir again. Apply to a cleansed face, avoiding eyes and mouth. Leave on for 15 minutes. Remove with a washcloth dunked in warm water.

Lavender Skin Tonic

2 handfuls of lavender flowers (fresh or dried)
225ml cider vinegar
700ML rosewater (distilled from roses- not synthetic extracts)

Put lavender in a screw-top jar and add liquid ingredients. Shake well and put in fridge. Allow lavender to infuse liquid for a week or two, and shake jar once daily; tonic will become a surprising rose colour. Strain liquid and pour into a pretty bottle. Drench a cotton wool pad in the liquid and use to remove last traces of cleanser. Keep in fridge and make a fresh batch every few weeks.

Milk, cucumber & mint cleanser

10cm piece of cucumber
5 mint leaves
50ml milk
2 drops grapefruit seed extract

Peel cucumber, remove mint leaf stalks and chop both roughly. Throw in a blender and whiz until smooth. Pour mixture into a pan and heat until simmering over a medium heat. Simmer for 2 minutes. Cool then strain through muslin cloth. Pour liquid into a sterilised bottle. Add grapefruit seed extract (a natural preservative). Keep cleanser in fridge and use within a week.

Apple blemish blaster

1 apple

Pour boiling water over a slice of apple and wait a few minutes until it becomes soft. Remove from water, wait until it's just warm, then place on the pimple. Leave for 20 minutes, then peel off and sweep the area lightly with a moistened cotton wool pad.
