Beer belly rejoice, your time has come.

A new survey has found that women prefer a doughy physique to rock-hard abs.

Planet Fitness recently released the findings which showed that 65% of women find dad bods sexy, and over half have called them ‘the new six pack’.

The subtle sensuality of the more cushiony customer is only recently being realised, with the numbers jumping by over 10% in both categories.

The 2018 survey found only 41% of women surveyed agreed the dad bod out-did the six pack in sex appeal, compared with a whopping 51% this year.

As for the overall draw of the rounded gent, now 61% of women find a dad bod ‘sexy’, compared with just 51% last year.

According to the study, four in five of both sexes believe a dad bod is a sign of confidence in a man.

The self-esteem to accept your body the way it is, without focusing too much on maintaining the ‘perfect’ physique is a serious draw card for both men and women.

Best of all the survey shows that almost 80% of those with dad bods were happy with the way they looked, an unusual statistic in the image-driven modern world of social media.

With fathers day around the corner it’s nice to see the international uniform of the dad getting the recognition it deserves.

After all, there’s nothing like a squishy dad cuddle to make everything a little bit better.
