Aussie woman humiliated by Tinder date loses half her body weight

A woman who was humiliated by a cruel Tinder date who told her to ‘eat a salad’ has dropped six dress sizes.

Back in 2016, Hannah Bean excitedly sat in a café in her hometown of Perth, waiting to meet a man for the first time after the pair had matched on the online dating app Tinder.

The 23-year-old, who at her heaviest weighed 170kg and wore a size 26, said she had been speaking to him regularly via video chat, telephone calls and text messages for three months before they finally decided to meet in person.

Being her very first Tinder date, Hannah said she was a ‘bundle of nerves’ but extremely excited to meet the mystery man – but was horrified after learning her date had seen her and done a runner.

Instead, Hannah received a shocking cruel text from him that read ‘I walked in and you look nothing like your photos. Do yourself a favour, eat a salad and lose some weight’.

“Although I was self-conscious of my weight, he knew exactly what I looked like, so I felt okay meeting up with him for the first time,” Hannah said.

“But then I got a text saying that he walked in and saw me already. He told me I looked nothing like my pictures and that I needed to eat a salad and lose some weight.

“I was so ashamed and embarrassed. I started crying right there in the café.”

Feeling crushed, Hannah said she stayed off Tinder for a long time and instead began focusing on her own journey of self-love, mental wellness and weight loss.

Hannah said she was bullied throughout her entire schooling career due to her size.

At her heaviest, the young woman said she was addicted to soft drink and guzzled up to six litres of lemonade a day – while also downing entire packets of crisps and sweets.

“After my stepdad passed away when I was 15, I rapidly piled on weight and reached 110kg,” she said.

In her late teens, Hannah’s poor eating habits caught up to her – with doctors warning she would not live another two years if she continued to gain weight.

Faced with this harsh reality, Hannah knew she had to make a real change and in 2016 she completely overhauled her diet and began working out regularly at the gym.

“I started eating healthier meals that were mostly keto-inspired, which meant they were high-protein and low-carb,” she said.

“I started going to the gym and doing cheerleading to get extra exercise. The weight started melting off.”

After losing an amazing[55kg naturally through diet and exercise, Hannah said she reached a plateau – so opted for to undergo gastric band surgery in October 2018, which helped her lose another 29kg over the next seven months.

The redhead has now lost an incredible 84kg and dropped six dress sizes and she feels happier and more confident than ever in her new size 12-14 physique – and has even started dating again.

Hannah added that despite the Tinder man’s cruel comments, she has not let it deter her from finding love and is happily back on the dating scene.
