A mother has given birth to six babies in just nine minutes at a hospital in Texas, USA.

Thelma Chiaka had two sets of twin boys and one set of twin girls on Friday morning between 4:50 am and 4:59 am

A statement released by the Women’s Hospital of Texas announced that the babies were healthy and all in a stable condition in the hospital’s neonatal intensive care unit.

The odds of giving birth to sextuplets are estimated at one in 4.7 billion, the hospital said.

Another hospital made headlines last year as it prepared for its first-ever delivery of sextuplets.

A team of 40 people worked together at Alabama’s Huntsville Hospital by performing carefully choreographed drills.

Practicing on IV bags during 12 separate drills, a “code six” was issued — referring to six babies — and each “baby” was given its own staff and colour (red, orange, yellow, green, blue and violet).

Those births were even faster, with all six babies delivered in an incredible four minutes to parents Courtney and Eric Waldrop.
