Mystery surrounds a woman’s suspicious death after her body was found dumped in bushland in Sydney’s south.
Police have identified a woman found near Sandy Point Quarry off Heathcote Road, Menai, as 33-year-old Najma Carroll.
The grisly discovery was made by a member of the public who alerted police.
The woman, known to reside in Sydney’s Inner West, was found just before 5.15pm on Wednesday after a passer-by’s dog began acting strangely, The Australian reports.
According to the publication, a fire had been lit near where the woman was found and she had sustained some “burn injuries to her body”.
Police have established a crime scene and investigators are working to piece together the circumstances surrounding her suspicious death.
They are calling for anybody with information about her movements in recent days to come forward, or anybody who may have seen anything suspicious around the area off Heathcote Road known as ‘white rock’.
