Hilarious Mariah Carey birthday cake blunder
Everybody has that one superstar they idolise so much that they’d happily blow out the candles on a cake decorated with their face on it on a yearly basis.
But one woman has learned the hard way that while you may think the world revolves around your favourite celebrity, not everyone may be familiar with the star.
Twitter user Harriet Alida Lye took to her social media page to post the hilarious image of a cake her cousin in the UK got when she told colleagues she wanted a Mariah Carey cake for her birthday.
My cousin in England told her colleagues she wanted a Mariah Carey birthday cake. They misunderstood, and is the cake they made her instead. It’s Marie Curie, looking very festive. pic.twitter.com/LMHJnMATqD

“They misunderstood, and is the cake they made her instead. It’s Marie Curie, looking very festive,” she wrote.
Marie Curie won two Nobel Prizes in 1903 and 1911 for her research on radioactivity.
People on Twitter thought the baker’s bungle wasn’t actually a fail at all, but actually a win.

Frankly I don’t think they misheard her at all. This is so much better than...Mariah Carey...

This is better. No shade to Mariah but come on.

Look, they spelled her name correctly, and as someone who's middle name is Siobhan I can attest to the number of times people have effed it up. This is amazing.
