It was Wimbledon’s triumphant return. The two week tennis tournament, which welcomed the first full IRL attendance since 2019, had fans queuing up and tuning in, hungry for piece of the action.

And as Novak Djokovic and Elena Rybakina take home their first place singles trophies, there was plenty to celebrate from the high stakes sartorial game that played out on centre court as well.

As ever, it was the Duchess of Cambridge, a patron of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, who made the biggest waves as she visited the Royal Box on the ninth, thirteenth and fourteenth days of the two-week tournament, which ran Monday 27 June to Sunday 10 July. Though she is known to mix high street buys into her wardrobe, her visits to SW19 this year were defined by luxury labels.

Attending with Prince William, the 40-year-old re-wore a bright blue Alessandra Rich polka dot midi dress with a pleated front, three-quarter length sleeves and £1,515 price tag. She added a Wimbledon colour coded green and purple ribbon brooch, as well as drop pearl earrings and a white Mulberry bag to watch Djokovic play Italy’s Jannik Sinner.

The Duchess was unmissable on her second appearance, taking a seat in a canary yellow Roksanda dress, based on the brand’s ‘Brigitte’ frock which costs £1095. Her high stakes style was heeled with Gianvito Rossi pumps, and polished off with a pair of hefty quartz earrings by Kiki McDonough.

Her final look confirmed polka dots will be a summer staple in 2022. The Duchess arrived with son Prince George in another spotted Alessandra Rich frock, this time navy blue, and worn with white and contrast black toe heels by the same designer.

Other royals were seen earlier in the tournament. Zara Tindall, who arrived to watch the day two matches with husband Mike, stuck to Wimbledon whites in a plain linen midi shirtdress from Ralph Lauren, £265, with black wedge espadrilles and a black quilted cross body bag.

Others embraced more courtside colour. Holly Willoughby looked sweet and feminine in a pink belted heart print midi from Turkish label Gul Hurgel, £655, while influencer Betty Bachz went for a popping pink power suit and radio DJ Lilah Parsons looked super summery in a matching floral midi skirt and puff sleeve crop top paired with red suede courts.

Day three saw Georgia Toffolo make a statement in a white, strapless corset top with a sheer, pink lace finish. She paired it with matching white flares and white trilby as she joined DJ Greg James for a glass of champagne. James cut a relaxed shape in his navy blue pleated Homme Plissé Issey Miyake suit, £585, and a pair of crisp white Converse trainers.

The hotspot on day four was inside the Pimms hospitality suite, where West End starlets Layton Williams and John McCrea joined the likes of presenter Clara Amfo and Pussycat Doll Ashley Roberts. Sporty Spice Melanie C arrived in the day’s most striking look, wearing a bright orange satin blazer with matching shorts, a white vest and marble effect clutch.

She cuddled up to Bridgerton star Nicola Coughlan, who swapped out the huge red carpet dresses she has recently worn, for a laid back white shirt dress by Simone Rocha. The actress added twisted black leather shoes and bright red lip to round off her Centre Court style.

Sabrina Elba enjoyed the star studded gathering in a more casual Ralph Lauren knitted jumper, black slacks and an untucked white shirt, while Simone Ashley was charming in a flowing navy satin slip.

Alexa Chung (Polo Ralph Lauren)

Alexa Chung similarly nailed the brief, and became a hot contender for best dressed all tournmanet, as she arrived in a white linen blazer, shorts and waistcoat by Ralph Lauren to watch the players on the seventh day. She added a black heel to round off her the minimalist and sleek summertime style, alongside boyfriend Tom Sturridge.

David Beckham made a strong bid for the chicest dressed gent in his double breasted, brown blazer worn with a checked shirt, matching brown tie and cream slacks for day ten of the tennis. A dapper looking Hugh Grant was also present, and took a relaxed approach in his greige suit jacket with navy chinos and an open white shirt.

Nearing the end of the proceedings, Bohemian Rhapsody star Rami Malek joined girlfriend Lucy Boynton for day twelve. Malek was sophisticated in a black suit, pinstriped shirt and pale blue tie, while Boynton made a witty nod to her surroundings wearing a red Chanel handbag with a mini tennis racket detail, which brought her monchrome outfit to life.

Day thirteen saw Rebel Wilson pile on the brands in a baby pink, monogram Givenchy dress worn with an Hermès Birkin handbag and Valentino’s rockstar studded shoes.

After the abundance of well-dressed women were seen over the fortnight, the final day saw the the boys go out with a bang. On Sunday, a host of actors headed to Ralph Lauren’s hospitality box and did not dissapoint. Paul Mescal was dapper in a pinstripe suit and white t-shirt, Andrew Garfield pulled off a collarless shirt with beige, peaked lapel blazer and Tom Hiddleston buttoned up in a midnight blue linen suit jacket. Aced it.
