“I’m not worried about it,” the 12-time Grammy winner told the Associated Press. “I don’t feel bad. I don’t hurt anywhere. I don’t have any reason to worry about dying. But I don’t know anybody who’s lived forever,” he continued.
Nelson, who concerned fans over the summer after a string of performance cancellations due to unspecified health reasons, continued, stating “I take pretty good care of myself. And I feel like I’m in pretty good shape physically. Mentally? That’s another story,” he teased.

The country music superstar, who is known for his easy-going nature, gave a very Willie Nelson response when asked what he hopes his legacy will be after he’s gone. “I had a good time. And I did what I came here to do: make music,” he shared.
In 2023, Nelson spoke with Parade about his career longevity, sharing that he gets “really bored when I’m not working.”
In the same interview, he also said that performing is not just a positive for his mental health, but for his physical health as well. “Your lungs are the biggest muscle you have. So it’s healthy for me to sing,” Nelson noted.
Last week, Nelson took to the stage at a Kamala Harris rally in Houston, Texas, to lend his support to the presidential candidate. The musician performed “Mammas Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up to Be Cowboys” and “On the Road Again” at the Oct. 25 event where another Texas native, Beyoncé Knowles, officially endorsed the vice president for the 2024 election.
