Fetch isn’t just a fun game you and your dog can play. It can help your pup get some exercise, and it can help the two of you bond. However, if your dog is actually obsessed with playing fetch, it may be hard to catch a break sometimes. That’s where Wild One’s Tennis Tumble puzzle toy can be helpful for you both — you can get your work and other chores done, and your dog can still have some fun.

The Tennis Tumble is essentially a durable, natural rubber barrel with a trapped tennis ball inside. Your dog can roll it, paw at it, bite at it and more to try to get the tennis ball out. While it may seem impossible for some dogs to get it out, it actually is possible — letting them try is the perfect distraction, though.

Animal experts and vets often recommend puzzle toys for giving dogs mental and physical stimulation, as well as alleviating boredom and soothing dogs with separation anxiety. Some puzzle toys are strictly for treats and feeding, but the Tennis Tumble is for dogs who are maybe less food-motivated or absolutely can’t resist chasing after a ball.

I recently tested out Wild One’s Tennis Tumble toy on my own 7-month-old toy poodle puppy and my friend’s 8-year-old toy poodle. My friend’s more senior dog recently stayed with us and he loves to play fetch. While I was working from home, he was constantly dropping toys at my feet. We’d play for about 10 minutes at a time and he had so much fun he never even gave my pup a chance to snag the ball. After a while though, I needed to get back to work, so I dropped the Tennis Tumble toy in front of him. He was instantly hooked on trying to get the tennis ball out. He even let my pup try to help him and for a while, the two of them sat on the floor trying to get it out from either end. Spoiler alert: They couldn’t get it out.

The Tennis Tumble costs $20 and it comes in seven bright colors (two of them are seasonal). While it comes with a white or matching tennis ball inside, you can purchase a set of four extra tennis balls for $10 if you have a heavy chewer.

Personally, I think it’s worth every penny. It’s a fun game for your pup that also challenges their brain. The fact that it keeps them busy on their own for a while is just an added bonus.
