Why Priyanka Chopra Loves Après Ski Fashion
She's dishing on her love of après ski style, alongside a new campaign with Johnnie Walker Blue Label and Perfect Moment.
The way we get dressed every morning is as personal as it gets. There are outfit repeaters, vintage treasure hunters, and even emotional dressers. But while everyone loves a good fashion trend, here at InStyle, we're interested in the deeper stuff, too: the way jewelry makes us feel, the way a beloved coat can spark joy on a cold day, the way a pair of shoes can pull a whole look together. How I Get Dressed unpacks fashion routines, rituals, and go-tos—straight from the fashion tastemakers we love.
There's no doubt Priyanka Chopra loves fashion. As an ambassador for brands like Victoria's Secret and Bulgari, the actress is able to indulge in a constant revolving door of bold sartorial statements, whether it's a trench coat-gown hybrid for the Met Gala or a sultry lace-and-satin slip dress at the annual Kering's Caring for Women gala. But her love of fashion goes beyond her everyday style or red carpet appearances to a much more extreme environment: the ski slopes.
"I was a very late entrant to the sport," the actress tells InStyle. "I would say my introduction to apres ski fashion wasn't via the sport—it was more via fashion, and après ski more than ski."
It caught on so much that the actress and her husband, Nick Jonas, got in on the ski fashion business in 2022 by investing in the activewear brand, Perfect Moment. "We continue to be its biggest champions," she says. So much so that the actress is now the face of a campaign celebrating the collaboration between Perfect Moment and Johnnie Walker Blue Label, which includes an updated bottle version and bag inspired by what skiers usually refer to as "the blue hour." "I love it when the sky is that perfect blue, you know after the sunset, and the snow is like reflecting the moonlight," Chopra says, adding that her favorite après ski drink is an Old Fashioned.
But what gets Chopra on the slopes goes beyond the color of the sky. It's all about fashion. She loves a snatched waist, a silhouette that's achievable via the skintight snowsuits usually worn to practice skiing, as well as wearing bold colors and fashion-forward accessories. She says that while it may seem like hitting the slopes calls for more practicality than style, there are still ways to embrace one's personal style. "I think my ski fashion is an extension of my everyday style," she explains. "You can absolutely be yourself."
With a new ski season ahead, Chopra spoke to InStyle about her love for après ski style, the staples she can't leave behind on a ski holiday, and why everyone should take skiing—no matter how intimidating it might seem. Ahead, Priyanka Chopra's How I Get Dressed.
This interview has been edited and condensed for clarity.
Her Approach to Après Ski Style
"My ski fashion is an extension of my everyday style. And I think that's how it should be as well. I think you shouldn't be afraid to you know, show who you really are be your authentic self, and express yourself. It's a time to have fun. The slopes are a place where you can absolutely be yourself."
How She Packs for Ski Trip
"I do like to have a vision in mind. I usually know what we're gonna be doing. So I like to plan for a couple of different ski activities. You should always have an amazing puffer jacket and some chic wear to mix and match. I also love to have lots of accessories, like sunglasses are super crucial because of the white snow. I love to wear reflective colors, something that really complements the blue of the sky."
Why She Loves Ski Fashion
"I just feel people become automatically fashionable in ski gear. There’s something about the silhouette of it. I do like a snatched waist and ski gear tends to lend to that."
Her Favorite Ski Brand
"I like to be comfortable on the slopes, but I also like to be chic and confident. Obviously, Perfect Moment has been my go-to ski gear. To find timeless pieces, like a great puffer jacket, or a bunch of accessories you can put onto anything, I feel like Perfect Moment has this."
Her Advice for Taking Up Skiing
"Obviously, it can be intimidating, especially when you’re in the bunny slopes. But you just have to take the pressure off yourself. You've got to be able to do it for the fun of it. And wear clothes that you love to wear and feel like your best self."
