Whoopi Goldberg Struggles to Stay Calm During 'View' Segment: 'Not Gonna Let These People Work My Nerves'

While Whoopi Goldberg is known for generally trying to keep heated discussions on The View from getting out of hand, the longtime host had some trouble keeping her own emotions in check during the talk show's most recent episode.

While discussing Donald Trump's controversial nomination of Fox News host Pete Hegseth for defense secretary, Goldberg reacted to a clip of Hegseth's mother recanting an email to her son in which she called him an "abuser of women," according to TV Insider.

“Did she just say, ‘They’re not true anymore?’ So that means, at some point it was true,” Goldberg said. After apparently getting visibly upset, she added, “You know what? I’m not gonna let these people work my nerves.”

Goldberg also addressed Hegseth's previous comments disparaging women in combat.

“I really wanted to wait and see how he came at the four-star generals that are women," she said, as the audience applauded.

“These are people who said, ‘You know what, this is what my calling is. They decided to come out and fight," the 69-year-old star continued. "You’re going to tell people they’re not qualified to fight for their nation?"

Goldberg concluded the segment with a message to her female viewers.

“Don’t worry, we got you. The women, we got you. When you get rid of us, if you get rid of the women, you get rid of half of the population. That’s not a smart move to me.”
