Whoopi Goldberg Steps in During Tense Moment Between Co-Hosts on 'The View'
During the Nov. 18 episode of the talk show The View, which is known for debating hot topics, Whoopi Goldberg had to break up a tense conversation between co-hosts Sunny Hostin and Alyssa Farah Griffin when it got too heated.
The group was discussing the possible main motivation and reasoning behind people who voted for Donald Trump in the 2024 presidential election, and Hostin and Farah Griffin strongly disagreed with each other.

The topic was introduced when The View recounted a recent moment in which Bill Maher claimed that Democratic Party members "see their election loss as a result of racism and sexism," when he believes people who voted for Trump “just want prices to go down and good jobs and the police when you call them.”
As the TV hosts started debating the topic, Hostin said, “I know that as a country, it’s very difficult for people to believe that racism and misogyny they’re just alive and well... But my lived experience tells me that it does still exist, even if your lived experience doesn’t tell you that it exists and, you know, the facts support that.”
She referenced statistics about different races' voting preferences and party affiliations, rejecting Maher's statement as she added, "If you look, there’s a clear racial divide in who voted for Trump as opposed to who voted for Kamala Harris. It’s very clear."
But Farah Griffin seemed to agree more with Maher, saying, "His whole point is they didn’t vote for him because of racism and misogyny... I think the biggest common denominator is people want a good life and ability to pay for their family.”
Hostin and Farah Griffin dug deeper into the topic, leading to more tension as they disagreed with each other. In the end, Goldberg stepped in to pause the debate, putting her hands up and telling everyone, “Hold on. Hold on. Everybody just take a breath. Take a breath!”
Like all of the other The View hosts, Goldberg is usually upfront about her opinions on the show, but she's also good at mediating the conversation, as she did in this situation, allowing the talk show to take a break for commercials and move on to other topics.
