Whoopi Goldberg loses her ring after “The View” locks her inside Mickey Mouse wind machine of chaos

"My ring is in there," Goldberg said after emerging from the hurricane tube.

Mickey Mouse? You in danger, girl.

The Disney icon and The View's occasional harbinger of wind-based misfortune returned Tuesday to his chosen place of chaos on the set of the long-running talk show, where he and Minnie Mouse made their way to the stage to once again help cohost Sara Haines lock moderator Whoopi Goldberg inside a gale-force wind machine that ultimately claimed a piece of jewelry from the Ghost actress' finger.

Goldberg and Haines kicked off the closing segment of the live show while wearing nautical-themed Mickey ears, as they revived the show's hilarious bit that typically sees Goldberg entering the contraption to select a card with a seat number on it, indicating which audience member will win a trip aboard the Disney Destiny cruise ship.

"Before I get in the wind booth, we have some special friends here today who wanted to help us celebrate," the 68-year-old said as Mickey and Minnie walked out to join her, after which Goldberg praised Minnie's footwear. "Looking good, love the shoes, girl! Love those shoes!"

After Haines shut the door (following Mickey rubbing his hands together with devilish glee) on Goldberg, the show cued up whirring orchestral music and cranked the wind dial up as Goldberg flailed around inside the clear tube, bending over as she grasped for cards.

Haines then freed Goldberg from her predicament, though the Oscar-winning star left something behind inside the machine.

"My ring is in there," Goldberg said as she emerged. As a journalistic service to the world, Entertainment Weekly went back and re-watched the footage both before and after Goldberg entered the wind machine, and, sure enough, a gold ring is visible on her right pointer finger prior to the actress' entry. Following the bit, the ring is no longer on her hand.

According to a representative for The View, “The ring is safe and back where it belongs.”

Tuesday's segment marked the latest in a growing number of instances in which Mickey and Minnie join the show to entomb Goldberg inside the device — including in September 2023, which saw Goldberg exit the casing completely speechless and clutching her chest in shock.

The View airs weekdays at 11 a.m. ET/PT on ABC. Watch Goldberg enter the wind machine in the clip above.
