Lindsay Lohan Is Back – and Naked – on the Big Screen

For actress-turned-inmate Lindsay Lohan, her role in Machete may be her shot at a comeback.

It's her first appearance on the big screen since her time behind bars, and Lohan, 24, is baring it all for the over-the-top, action-packed thriller, which hit US theatres on the weekend.

In the film, Lohan tramps it up for her role as April, a wannabe model with a drug addiction. And when she's not dressed as a nun – who shoots people –, critics say the starlet strips down for the camera.

"[Lohan is] frequently naked as the randy daughter of a political figure," a New York Post critic writes. In fact, she does a nude three-way make-out session with costars Danny Trejo and Alicia Marek, the 35-year-old playing her mother.

So is this racy role Lohan's ticket back to Hollywood? The film, which also stars Robert De Niro and Jessica Alba, has been met with praise from critics. "It's a movie that just wants to have fun," Washington Post critic Michael O'Sullivan writes. "To a large degree, it succeeds."

But she's getting the most praise from her costars. "Lindsay is so good in the movie, and I can't wait for her to see it," Alba, 29, told WHO at a L.A. screening of the movie. "It's awesome. She's great. I'm very proud."

Linday herself was twitter happy as she tweeted: "It's a beautiful day in LA to have a hit film Congrats to all of the cast, crew, & production team of Machete Danny Trejo is fantastic."

The movie, with its star-studded cast of Danny Trejo, Robert DeNiro, Jessica Alba, Steven Seageal and Michelle Rodrigues, made third place ($11.3 million). George Clooney's The American (13 million) raced ahead and Takers ($11.5 million) continued its reign after two weekends with its total of $37.9 million.
